Having trained as an artist, William has become a UK registered Architect through 5ys studies at Architectural Association School. Through years of practices, he has gained rich experiences on mix-use development projects including high-rise, hotel and sport architecture. He has worked for world's leading practices including Wilkinson Eyre Architects, Populous, Foster and Partners on several prestigious projects. He was the key members of designing the Guangzhou IFC Tower (440m), which won the RIBA 2012 Lubetkin Prize and London 2012 Olympic Stadium from inception to completion. Other notable projects include Liverpool King’s Waterfront development, 2nd generation apple stores and Apple Campus 2 in Cupertino. Despite the success in UK, as Principal Architect he took on the challenge back to China leading the team on managing Wanda Group’s overseas projects including Wanda One Nine Elmes, Paris Europacity and Vista Tower project in Chicago.

Alongside the big projects, as founder of Creative Prototyping Unit he is leading a research team on digital fabrication of various small experimental projects. He has set up an urban regeneration research program in relation to sports sector at Southeast University. Since January of 2020, he has been based in London for managing London CPU studio.

Director

Van studied at Kingston University before completing her professional accreditation at Westminster University. Her career covers a wide range of fields that contributed to an extensive experience from bespoke high-end housing to commercial design and high rise residential towers.  Her experience goes beyond housing and commercial and includes the design of cultural and sporting arenas as well as infrastructure projects. Notable projects include the Liverpool M&S Bank Arena, Farringdon Rail Station, and the 2012 London Olympics where she worked on the Basketball Arena, Velodrome, Eton Manor, and The BMX Track Arena. Van amassed this wealth of experience by establishing herself as a reliable project and lead designer in reputable firms such as Wilkinson Eyre, PLP and Populous. 

Since 2019, Van has been a part of Creative Prototyping Unit where her passion and expertise has been invaluable in driving the studio forward. Van demonstrates a versatility in her approach which is clearly identified in the range and scale of her projects. Her passion has allowed her to continuously take on new challenges and provide unique design solutions whatever the scale or type of project.

Beijing Lead

Graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shen Yu is 1st Class Registered Architect in China with more than 20 years’ experience. She has worked for large state Institutes as well as private developer on many prestigious projects with fast-pace programs. Her project experience covers varied types of projects including mix-uses, residential, office, commercial, retail and hotel sectors as well as cultural tourism and sports. Acting as Client’s project manager involved in setting up construction standard and delivery program, she has supervised and managed more than 120 Wanda-Plaza Shopping Mall mix-use projects from inception to completion. She has a strong ability to execute projects and can ensure that high-quality and high-quality projects are completed under the limited project budget and time. Currently she is managing CPU Beijing studio and liaising with clients on projects in China.
