Interior Designer/Visual Artist/Architectural Assistant

Yuqian (Raine) Li is an interdisciplinary artist and creative practitioner working across digital video, experimental animation, and contemporary visual media, with a strong focus on cultural narrative and heritage-based storytelling. Her work explores the relationship between traditional culture and modern digital expression, drawing particularly on the symbolism, rituals, and visual language of Yi ethnic culture from Yunnan Province, China. This cultural foundation gives her practice a distinctive depth and conceptual clarity.

Raine’s creative work reinterprets traditional cultural motifs through contemporary media, combining moving image, sound, and digital techniques to explore themes of identity, memory, ritual, and cultural continuity. Her projects have been exhibited internationally and are recognised for their thoughtful integration of folklore and modern technology, positioning her work at the intersection of cultural research and digital experimentation.

Alongside her artistic practice, Raine has been actively involved in creative direction, exhibition development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, contributing to projects that promote dialogue between heritage, art, and contemporary culture. She has worked with international creative organisations and has experience supporting visual strategy, concept development, and artistic production within collaborative studio environments.

Based in the UK, Raine brings an international perspective to Creative Prototyping Unit, combining cultural research, digital storytelling, and artistic innovation. Her work reflects the studio’s interest in prototyping new forms of cultural expression through design, media, and emerging technologies, while remaining grounded in meaningful narratives and human experience.
